Global Movement Yarn Bombing Arrived to B&H

yarn_bombingYarn Bombing is a form of street art and decoration of public spaces with colorful knitting. The founder of Yarn Bombing is Magda Sayeg from Houston, who came up with the idea in 2005 by decorating her door of her shop with knitting, while the Canadian Joann Matvichuk is credited for naming International Yarn Bombing Day on 11 June in 2011.

In B&H, this movement has arrived in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Tuzla. Every city gathered its group that already meets and knits/sews with the aim to decorate public space to make it look better. To change and beautify public space that is important, but not aesthetically pleasing enough is the goal of this group, and with their creative ideas wishes to keep our public spaces ‘warm’ to prepare for the lower temperatures that will inevitably arrive.

All those interested can become included in this through the Facebook groups Yarn Bombing Tuzla, Yarn Bombing Sarajevo and Yarn Bombing Banja Luka.
