medalsBH judokas Larisa Ceric and Aleksandra Samardzic continue to bring medals from major international competitions. Ceric won a gold and Samardzic bronze medal at the Judo Grand Prix competition in Zagreb.

Best BH. Judoka Larisa Ceric, after the failure at the Olympics in Rio, managed to get back on the winning track, and to win the gold on a Grand Prix for the first time in her career. Ceric came to the brightest medal in the category of +78 kg superior, after beating all rivals with maximum results. In the finals she won against German Carolin Weiss, one of the best judokas on the world.

“After the failure in Rio, I managed to keep a cool head and win gold at the Grand Prix. The competition was tough, but I finally managed to triumph, and I am especially happy after everything I went through in the period after the Olympics,” said Ceric.

This tournament in Zagreb is scored for world ranking list, where Ceric currently occupies 11th place, which is the best placement of one of BH competitors.

Young Aleksandra Samardzic, who has the right to participate in junior category, won the bronze medal in the senior competition, with which she confirmed the European class. She achieved three wins in the category up to 70 kg, and in the match for a medal she beat Anna Bernholm from Sweden.

“The road to the medal was not easy. But I managed to achieve one of the best results in my career,” said Samardzic.

One of the most promising BH athletes, Toni Miletic, also performed in Zagreb in the category of cadets up to 18 years, and he entered one win in his first performance on the Grand Prix. He was better than Lithuanian Dorino Gotonoage in the first round.

“I am happy because this was the biggest competition for me. I think that I was the youngest competitor. I want to thank my coach for believing in me,” said Miletic.

Selector Branislav Crnogorac is satisfied with the results, and he noted that BH team was handicapped by the absence of injured members Harun Sadikovic and Rijad Dedeic.

“We took big steps towards new challenges, which are ultimately the Olympic Games in Tokyo. After the relative failure in Rio, we returned to the international sports scene with great results,” said Crnogorac.
