BH master of sculpturing Daniel Premec last night, at the Street Art Festival in Sarajevo, presented a conceptual design of the monument dedicated to passenger car “Golf 2”.
Premec revealed that the idea was born 10 years ago, but he now decided to realize it.
“There is a special emotional connection of all citizens and generations in BiH with Golf 2 . It represents a special value of the pre-war prosperity and wealth because not everyone could have it and the expressed need and heroism in the war, because in fact, many people owe their lives to exactly that vehicle,” said Premec.
He emphasized that he understood that the period from 1992 to 1995, which is very important for our country, has not been marked with a sculpture, and Golf 2 “helped” citizens because it transported a variety of things, people, wounded and still endured everything.
“This will be a conventional sculpture that marked this period. Golf 2 is one solution which represent a universal value and that is important for all of us in a special way. It lives through the narratives of people from this area, and every time you mention this vehicle, someone will tell an anecdote from the period of 1992-1995,” said the artist.
After presentation of the conceptual design, they will start with the preparation of project design, and the artist will collaborate on the project with the renowned BH photographer Milomir Kovacevic Strasni, whose war photos went all around the world.”
“The photos will remind us what Golf 2 truly presented”, said Premec.
