Danish national television DR has decided to host the 59th Eurovision Song Contest in its capital city Copenhagen, and the competition will be held in Hall B&W (Burmeister & Wain).
Pernia Gardbo ( Pernille Gaardbo ), the executive producer of Eurovision 2014, has named it as “the most innovative hall ever” in which will be held this great musical event. It is selected even the slogan for this year “Join us” and was confirmed that the semi-final evening will be held on 6th and 8th May, while the finals are scheduled for the 10th May 2014.
Considering the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 which was held in Sweden did not participate due to financial difficulties, the question is whether our country will participate next year in Denmark.
Dejan Kukrić, the editor of the entertainment and music program BHT 1 and a member of the Reference Group of the EBU, stated for us that currently he can not answer this question.
“From the informal discussions I got the impression that there is a good will that BHRT to return to Eurovision next year. I certainly, as editor of the entertainment and music programs BHT 1, will direct this initiative to the General Director BHRT. We agreed that in the next few days, to submit proposals and ideas for the project ESC 2014”, said Kukrić.
It is interesting because 2014 has a special symbolism for our country. Specifically, it will have been 50 years since Sabahidin Kurt as the first contestant from B&H represented back then Yugoslavia.
“It is interesting because it was exactly in Copenhagen in1964. Therefore, our return to Copenhagen exactly half a century since the first participation in the Eurosong contest will certainly be a special and emotional moment. As you can see, it is a lot of symbolism. Even for us, as television is particularly inspiring to make top TV program”, adds Kukrić.
City of Copenhagen will participate with 40 million kroner, which is around 5.28 million euros. The capacity of the hall is 10.000 places. There will not be traditional postcards, but only small artists’ portrait. The show will begin with the view on B & W lighted up with lasers and fireworks.
