houseFive members family Colo from Vranici near Gorazde will soon get a new and safe home. They had to move from their old house that was endangered by the landslide a year ago. Municipality of Gorazde provided temporary accommodation for them. Meanwhile resources for construction of the house at the new location were provided by the Federal Fund for support of the areas affected by natural disasters.

Landslide in their village Naseoci appeared 11 years ago, and 2 years ago it was activated thus directly threatening the residential building of family Colo, which had to move out in January due to security reasons.

Temporary accommodation was secured for family Colo and letter was sent to the Fund for support of the areas affected by natural disasters in the territory of FB&H who had the understanding and approved 35,000 BAM for the construction of a new residential building for this family last year. After the conditions were met, a tripartite agreement on the realization of this project was signed at the session of the Municipal Staff of Civil Defense.

“This agreement is the crown of the overall work. We received the funds earlier, but on this occasion, we want to thank the Fund, and especially to the Mayor of Gorazde who personally visited all those who are in the Board of Directors of the Fund and the  director of the Fund in order to explain our problem and the situation in which family Colo found itself. We know that 2014 was a very difficult year because there were a lot of requests for the Fund. They recognized our problem and sent resources in June 2015. We allocated funds and reserved them until the moment when the family acquired the conditions to ensure the construction of a building, the building permit and the possibility of an access road for the construction of family house. The works can start immediately,” said Samira Drakovac, assistant of the Head for the civil protection.

The family Colo is very happy for permanently solve their housing problem and very grateful to the Municipality of Gorazde which stood up for them when they needed it the most.

“We had to leave our house due to the landslide. Mayor, the entire municipality and Civil Defense went to the field when it happened and ensured home for us. We signed the agreement on funds for the construction of a new house. Old location was unsuitable so we will build a house at the new location. This means the existence of our entire family,” said Mevzet Colo.

Family Colo should move in their new home in 3 months, which is the deadline for completion of the works.
