At yesterday’s session held in Sarajevo, the Government of FBiH accepted the initiative by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of FBiH for amendment of the regulations with the aim of making the penal policy for perpetrators of criminal offenses in traffic and criminal offenses regarding the procurement, holding and carrying of weapons and ammunition more strict, it was stated by the Government.
The initiative was launched after increasingly often tragic accidents on the roads throughout BiH, with the hope that such tragic events in Sarajevo and other cities of FBiH will be prevented in the future.
With the aim of making the penal policy for perpetrators of criminal offenses in traffic stricter, it was suggested that the federal Minister of Justice prepares and forwards into the procedure the amendments to the Criminal Law of FBiH and the Law on Offenses in FBiH.
Moreover, it was suggested that, in case the perpetrator commits again any of the criminal offenses included in the law, they can be punished with a prison sentence of five to twenty years. If the criminal offense is committed again by the same perpetrator, the court should be given the chance to punish them with the most severe prison sentence.
An initiative was also launched to prescribe the prison sentence of five to twenty years for perpetrators of criminal offenses related to the use of vehicles while intoxicated.
The Ministry of Transporation and Communications of BiH also received an initiative to foresee a possibility of revocation of driving license for persons who were punished for using vehicles while intoxicated more than two times and those who often violate other traffic regulations.
