From February 11 to 18, the World Swimming Championships will be held in Doha, where Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by Lana Pudar, Dino Sirotanović-Hasibović and Adi Mešetović.
The leader of our selection team is Prof. dr. Damir Đedović, the head coach is Prof. Dr. Goran Grahovac, and part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. the team is also coached by Minel Bakal.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s biggest hope at this championship is our best swimmer Lana Pudar, who will only compete in the 200-meter dolphin event at this championship. This discipline is on the program on February 14, and Lana will perform in the morning qualifications around 10:40 a.m. our time.
Damir Đedović stated that Lana and her team have been in Doha since February 2 and that they are very satisfied with the conditions and organization of the championship itself.
“After performing at the European Championship in small pools at the beginning of December in Romania, Lana had a period until the end of last year where she trained at a much lower intensity. That is, she had to take some rest after a very busy period in the year that is behind us. So we are with started a more serious training process only at the beginning of January,” says Đedović.
He added that Lana suffered a minor shoulder injury during the final preparations, which was successfully repaired.
Her team decided that there was no need for any major competitive effort in this period of the year, and that’s why they decided that Lana would only compete in one discipline at this championship.
Coach Goran Grahovac believes that the most important thing is in front of Lana, which is the preparations for the Olympic Games in Paris, and that there is no need to take any risks.
“Honestly, until the last moment, we weren’t sure if we should perform at this championship, but in the end we decided that he should show up and record his performance at this championship. She really wanted to compete in the 100-meter dolphin. Especially, because due to the cancellation of the performances of a certain number of swimmers, there is a different registered time at this championship. However, it is our decision that at this championship she will only compete in the 200m dolphin, and that this is quite enough at this stage of her preparations, given the volume and intensity of her training in the previous period, as well as her current condition,” Grahovac said.
He is sure that Lana will record an excellent result at this championship and that she will please us again with an excellent performance.
Đedović also emphasized the great support of embassy in Qatar during their stay in Doha, as well as people from Bosnia and Herzegovina who live and work like that, Fena news agency writes.
