The representative of the Democratic Front (DF) in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Gratz, submitted an initiative for amendments to the Criminal Code of the FBiH, the aim of which, he said, is to improve the security situation. Among other things, the amendments defined the introduction of the institution of life imprisonment and the recognition of the criminal offense of femicide.

Gratz pointed out that the sentence of life imprisonment would be prescribed for the most serious forms of serious crimes, committed with premeditation.

Also, the proposed amendments to the Criminal Code increase the upper limit of prison sentences from 20 to 25 years and tighten criminal sanctions for crimes against life and body, sexual freedom and morals, and against marriage, family and young people.

He stated that the choice of security measures that can or must be applied to the perpetrators of certain crimes is being expanded, which, among other things, refers to the ban on approaching and communicating with the injured party, removal from the joint household, expulsion of foreigners from the country and announcement of the verdict.

In the context of the fight against femicide and violence directed at women, Gratz said that he will ensure recognition of the special status of femicide, tightening of measures within the criminal offense of domestic violence, criminalization of sexual harassment and the so-called revenge pornography and the criminalization of threats and harassment through channels on social networks and other means of communication.
