The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, today received the newly elected Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Serbia, Aleksandar Vranješ, and wished him welcome and a successful mandate.

The Prime Minister assessed that there is a lot of room for further improvement of the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of economy, and emphasized the importance of implementing joint infrastructure projects, among which the Belgrade-Sarajevo-Belgrade highway construction project stands out.

Speaking about the “Open Balkans” Initiative, Brnabić said that the membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina would contribute to the inclusiveness of this initiative and the economic betterment of all citizens of the region, the Government of Serbia announced.

After the meeting, no details were published about the recent scandal in which Ambassador Vranješ found himself, after he met with the head of the BIA, Aleksandar Vulin, and gave his support to female students who glorified Ratko Mladic.

Vulin awarded the students Valentina Vujičić and Slađana Todić with the continuation of their education in Belgrade because they glorified the war criminal and denied the genocide in Srebrenica.

Vranješ thanked Vulin for that act, and after the meeting BiH requested his sanction. However, nothing has happened in that sense yet.
Vranješ said that he did not see anything objectionable in their statement “let’s kill you” and that it was an expression of attitude, not a criminal act. However, due to their statements, the two of them are under the scrutiny of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office.
