Greece hit by first cold front this autumn, ferries docked at ports

ATHENS, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — Greece has been hit by the first cold front of autumn this week with strong winds with speeds of up to ten on the Beaufort wind scale, causing the cancellation of ferry trips in the Aegean Sea, Greek national news agency AMNA reported on Wednesday.
Ships remained docked at Piraeus and other ports across the country, while schools on the islands of of  Andros, Tinos and Mykonos remained closed for safety reasons.
The bad weather front has gradually been sweeping across Greece from Tuesday and will continue in coming days, while on Friday an intense tropical-like cyclone was due to develop in the Ionian Sea in the western part of the country, according to Athens National Observatory.
As the temperature has already fallen in several regions, in northern Greece the first snowfall of fall was reported on mountain Olympus.
