A member of the Hamas political bureau, Osama al-Hamdan, said that there is still no final agreement with Israel regarding the Gaza Strip.

At a press conference in Beirut, Hamdan emphasized that there is no final agreement with Israel on a cease-fire and exchange of prisoners.

He added that they received some offers and proposals, that they are working on them and that they will make decisions taking into account the interests of the people of Palestine.

He pointed out that at the meeting in Paris, Hamas received a draft of the general framework for a possible agreement.

“We are focused on an agreement based on Israel stopping all attacks on the Gaza Strip and withdrawing all occupation forces from the Gaza Strip,” Hamdan said.

He emphasized that they are primarily focused on the draft agreement.

“This includes lifting the 17-year blockade for our people in Gaza, reconstruction and a serious prisoner exchange agreement,” Hamdan said.

Israel launched a deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip on October 7, killing 27,238 Palestinians and injuring 66,452. The offensive followed a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas that killed around 1,200 Israelis.

According to United Nations data, due to the Israeli offensive, 85 percent of the population of the Gaza Strip has been internally displaced and faces an acute shortage of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
