The head of the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, and the Ambassador of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Michael Murphy, will meet today in Sarajevo with representatives of the authorities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting of the ambassadors of the EU and the US in BiH with the authorities of the Federation of BiH is another opportunity to confirm the commitment of the EU and the US to the European path of BiH.
The granting of candidate status in December 2022 was an important milestone for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also an incentive for the newly elected leaders to implement the reforms necessary for EU accession with new momentum.
Significant reforms are necessary in order for the country to fulfill all 14 key priorities listed in the Opinion of the European Commission on BiH’s application for EU membership, the statement reads.
Sattler and Murphy will first meet with members of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, and a political dialogue is planned with representatives of the Government of FBiH and the Parliament of FBiH, during which they will discuss the EU accession process, the strategic development of legislation and politics, as well as programming and financing with the support of the EU and the USA, announced the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
