The Lebanese group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for today’s rocket attack on Kibbutz Hagoshrim, where an Israeli civilian was killed.

Hezbollah claims that it fired dozens of rockets at a nearby military base in Israel in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes near the southern Lebanese village of Jibshit that wounded several people, writes the Times of Israel.

Israel is threatening revenge for a deadly Hezbollah rocket attack on the occupied Golan that killed 12 children and youths on Saturday after nine months of crossfire on the Israeli-Lebanese border amid Israel’s war against Palestinian Hamas in Gaza.

Israel blamed Hezbollah for Saturday’s attack, which did not claim responsibility, and Israel soon attacked targets in Lebanon.

The attacks threaten to push Israel and Lebanon toward war after months of sporadic border fighting that began shortly after Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7 and was later attacked by Hezbollah in support of Hamas.

More than 500 people died in Lebanon, including 90 civilians, and 22 soldiers and 25 civilians on the Israeli side.
