The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said about 20 missiles were fired at the northern Israeli city of Safed overnight, adding that most were intercepted or landed in open areas.
The IDF statement states that no one was injured. A picture published by public broadcaster Khan shows minor damage to a building in Dalton, a town near Safed, from a rocket fragment.
The military also says sirens have been activated in communities around Safed “due to concerns that interceptor debris will fall” and that firefighters are working to put out a fire near Biry that was sparked by a missile strike.
In the meantime, it was reported that after several hours, firefighters extinguished the fire in the Birya forest, which was caused by a rocket attack.
The Hezbollah group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Iran-backed group says it targeted an air defense base 12 kilometers from the border with Katuysha rockets in retaliation for an Israeli attack in Kafr Joz, Klix.ba writes.
