Ahead of his semiannual address to the United Nations Security Council, High Representative Valentin Inzko spoke today via video conference with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

Welcoming the recommitment of the BiH Presidency to EU integration, High Representative Inzko informed the Secretary-General about other current political developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the immediate challenges the country is facing in relation to combating the COVID-19 pandemic. The High Representative emphasized the need for swift adoption of the State budget to help mitigate the negative socioeconomic effects of the pandemic and to enable unhindered preparations for the October Municipal Elections.

Welcoming the UN’s increased focus on reconciliation and peacebuilding initiatives in BiH, High Representative Inzko also used the opportunity to underline the need for the international community to work closely together to advance positive, forward-looking reform agendas.
