History Fest officially opened in the National Museum

This year’s History Fest was opened in the National Museum of BiH in Sarajevo. This event will be held from May 31 to June 3.

The organizer of the History Fest is the Association for Modern History, and co-organizers of this event are Bosnian Institute – Foundation Adil Zulfikarpasic, Forum ZFD in BiH, Lehrstuhl fur Sudosteuropaische Geschichte Universitat Humboldt zu Berlin and University Press Sarajevo.

This year’s History Fest, besides the historic Berlin Congress, is dedicated to the centenary of the end of the World War I and the creation of the First Yugoslav State (1918), the 70th anniversary of the end of the unity of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union (1948), and the 50th anniversary of the student rebellion in Yugoslavia (1968).

Special part of this year’s History Fest will be the announced doctoral dissertation under the name “Yugoslavia as a scientific problem in doctoral studies”. The announced participants are doctors from numerous countries from all over the world, from China to BiH, who are writing their dissertations on the history of Yugoslavia at universities in Berlin, Munich, Gratz, Regensburg, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Belgrade, Sarajevo and Niksic. The main aim of the workshop is to see the way in which current dissertations are wrote in this field.

This year’s Histroy Fest will also include the promotion of the most recent books, discussions about monuments and their use in audits of history, lectures on ways of revising history and similar topics.

The presentation of films will be another part of the event. The promotion of the documentary film “the Spirit of Time” will take place on this occasion as well as talks with director Lordan Zafranovic and producer Natasa Miskovic.
