Last night in Sarajevo was officially opened the hotel “Holiday” and the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegovic, had the honor to cut the ribbon.
The opening ceremony, besides the Chairman Izetbegovic and the owner of the Europe Group Rasim Bajrovic, was attended by numerous guests, both domestic and foreign.
“At the beginning of work of this hotel, I want to sincerely congratulate to the owner and director of Europe Group, Rasim Bajrovic. This hotel means a lot to all the people of Sarajevo, which particularly reminiscent of the Olympics in 1984 and the siege of Sarajevo (1992 to 1995). During the war, this was the only place where journalists of the international community were staying,” said Izetbegovic.
Owner Rasim Bajrovic confirmed that the “Holiday” will be the largest congress center in the region and that it will be called “International Congress Center Sarajevo”.
“This is a hotel with respectable accommodation capacity – 400 rooms, 10 conference rooms with a capacity of 2,500 places. We currently employ 110 people, and the hotel will have 200 employees by the end of the year,” he said.
Hotel “Holiday”, according to Zlatko Lagumdzija, is the only hotel in the world with two histories (Winter Olympics in 1984 and war from 1,992 to 1,995).
“If to any hotel happened what happened to this one during this war, that would be the hotel ‘monument’ of the brightest tradition,” said Lagumdzija.
Opera singer Ivica Saric also expressed satisfaction that the synonymous of Sarajevo is reopened.
“We saw the reincarnation of one of the symbols of Canton Sarajevo in a very short time. Owner Bajrovic and his colleagues are very serious investors who are filling our budget,” said the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Elmedin Konakovic, who also attended the opening ceremony of the hotel “Holiday”.
Hotel ” Holiday ” will be completely renovated by the end of the year, and the new owners, Europe Group, managed to renew a significant part of it in the past two months. They fully renovated the ground floor including the nine conference rooms. More than half of the equipment that was in the hotel was replaced and used furniture was donated to the areas that were affected by floods 2 years ago.
Hotel will have 400 rooms and 10 luxury suites, as well as 15 conference rooms, and the largest one has the capacity of 500 people. The capacity of the hotel in the future will be expanded in order to meet the demand of tourists.
Hotel “Holiday” will be a pioneer in the development of congress tourism, and has two presidential suites, which are the largest in the region and have five rooms.
