House of Peoples of the BiH PA holds Emergency Session on Two European Laws

The House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) will consider today at an urgent session the draft laws on border control and on the protection of personal data of BiH, which are priorities on our country’s European path.

The House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH adopted these two laws last week, also at an urgent session, and sent them to the House of Peoples for consideration.

The draft law on border control was sent for consideration under the urgent procedure, which does not provide for the possibility of proposing amendments, while a shortened procedure was requested for the Draft Law on the Protection of Personal Data.

In mid-December, the Council of Ministers of BiH established the draft laws, which bear the EI mark, as confirmation of appropriate compliance with the acquis communautaire, and thus took the relevant steps to obtain a date for the opening of BiH’s negotiations with the European Union.

These laws were adopted in the House of Representatives without the support of SNSD and Serbian caucus deputies.
