The unfounded message of the president of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, that High Representative Christian Schmidt will be arrested when he steps on the territory of the mentioned entity, caused a lot of public attention.
Regardless of the triviality of Dodik’s threat, such rhetoric nevertheless becomes dominant, that is, it becomes a topic in which the International Community is also involved. About twenty years ago or a little less, High Representatives had much freer hands, so they were the ones who “dictated the pace”. There was no getting into arguments, but they took a firmer stance towards domestic political actors.
Then, from the period of Miroslav Lajcak, that approach was changed, and domestic leaders were given the task of trying to find solutions themselves. For more than ten years, domestic leaders have been conducting politics without the intervention of the International Community, so the last two or three years have shown that it is not going exactly according to plan.
First of all, because of the relationship of the RS authorities towards the state, constant obstructions, blackmail, announcements of secession, and now Dodik’s threats to arrest the High Representative Christian Schmidt.
Such a threat is not the focus of the story itself, but rather the fact that neither the pro-Russian activities of Dodik nor the war in Ukraine in the context of the anti-state activities of the SNSD leader were curbed. Even the sanctions of the United States (U.S.) and the United Kingdom (UK) did not calm the political activities of Dodik, who despite everything imposes themes and political rhythm.
The message that the RS police will arrest Schmidt and the reactions from the International Community that the High Representative has the right to move around the territory of the entire country essentially illustrate this relationship, Klix.ba reports.
