How does the Life of BH Citizens looks like in Dubai?

Dubai completely changes the way of living at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and becomes place which “lives only during night”. Citizens adapt their clothes, stores work only from iftar dinner until suhur, and all citizens unite in humanitarian missions to feed those in need. Fridges with food, drink and juices are placed all over the city for those who fast in order to be able to break their fast.

People donate fresh products, and BH citizens who live and work there also take part in these humanitarian activities. Evhad Kunovac, who has been working as flight attendant in Emirates Airlines for several years now, stated that there are more than hundred fridges in Dubai that are placed by volunteers and filled by citizens.

“They donate fruits, vegetables, water and juices. It is important that it is fresh and not cooked. People use this food besides iftar, they also bring that food home. Most of the people bring water bottles in their cars and give them to workers on the streets so they can have them for iftar dinner”, said Kunovac.

Since his birthday falls during the month of Ramadan, he decided to spend money on filling one fridge instead on celebration. Many citizens of BiH, who work in Dubai, participate in these activities.

Large tents are placed around the villas of Sheiks where free iftar dinners are organized for people who want to come, and royal family donates about 5000 iftar dinners to people in need every day.

“There are many volunteers on the streets who share water bottles and dates to drivers in the time for iftar if they are stuck in traffic,” said Kunovac.

As announced on a day before Ramadan, parking will be free in Dubai during this month, working hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and bus and metro will be working during the night as well.
