Exactly five years ago, the revelation that painting “Head of a man,” that was found in the National Library in Kozarska Dubica is the original work of Pablo Picasso, attracted great media attention.

Soon, art historians revealed that this work is authentic and Kozarska Dubica made it to headlines of many media who wrote about the work that falls into zero category and whose value is not possible to be estimated in money.

Three years later, this work became part of the permanent exhibition of the National Library, and because of its priceless value, the library received a special protection, in order to preserve the original Picasso’s painting, as reported by RTRS.

Director of the National Library of Kozarska Dubica Danijela Balaban said that they installed alarms, sensors, cameras, and everything else that is needed to keep it safe.

This original work of one of the world’s greatest painters is dating back from 1964. It is part of the legacy that a national hero of World War II and Dubica revolutionary Bosko Siljegovic gave to the library. He received the work as a gift in Paris as a prominent member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia.

Because of Picasso’s original work, visits to the library in Dubica are increased, and the founding of the work caused the tourist promotion of Kozarska Dubica, especially in artistic circles.

Dragan Jacimovic, president of the Municipal Assembly of the city, said that this work owned by the National Library is very important for the promotion of Kozarska Dubica as a tourist town.

Picasso’s painting remains the property of the library and its exhibition in other areas is done with a special protection. In Dubica are fantasizing to get a postage stamp featuring the works of Picasso, which made this city famous.
