For 11 months this year, foreign nationals in Bosnia-Herzegovina bought and exported goods worth 123.8 million BAM, according to the BiH’s Indirect Taxation Authority.

At the same time, they filed a total of 396,574 VAT refund claims in BiH amounting to as much as 18 million BAM.

“The highest number of requests for certification of departure of goods from BiH were at the border crossings of Orasje, Hukic Brdo, Brčko, Izacic and Gradiska,” the ITA said, adding that the most purchased are consumer goods, namely food and clothing.

At the Hukica Brdo border crossing near Velika Kladusa, as many as 44,703 VAT refund claims were filed this year for goods worth 18.3 million BAM.

According to their data, people living near the border with BiH, mostly from Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro, mostly come to BiH, and many of them also use the opportunity to pay VAT back.

Thus, their purchase is cheaper by 17 percent, by the amount of VAT in BiH, Srpskainfo reports.
