At the Munich Security Conference 2025 (MSC2025), High Representative Christian Schmidt participated in high-level discussions on regional security, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s reform path, and its Euro-Atlantic integration. The conference, gathering nearly 450 top decision-makers—including heads of state, ministers, and international security experts—took place at a pivotal moment for global security.

During his engagements, High Representative Schmidt underscored the urgent need for Bosnia and Herzegovina to advance key reforms and strengthen cooperation with European and transatlantic partners.

“Stabilizing Bosnia and Herzegovina requires bold reforms and close collaboration. Long-term security and prosperity depend on a credible European approach,”
he stated.

As part of MSC2025, High Representative Schmidt held meetings with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel, Czech President Petr Pavel, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, NATO Assistant Secretary General Boris Ruge, and Admiral Stuart Munsch, Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples. He also had an opportunity to meet MSC2025 Chairman Jens Stoltenberg, as well as representatives of the US delegation. Additionally, he met with Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, President of the Conference of European Rabbis, to discuss inclusive governance and interfaith dialogue, as well as His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church.

Additionally, High Representative Schmidt participated in key discussions on the Western Balkans, emphasizing regional security challenges and the importance of sustained international support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s democratic resilience.

As a leading forum on global security, the Munich Security Conference continues to serve as a crucial platform for shaping international policy and advancing the future of the Western Balkans and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
