“Authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina must protect journalists and ensure that they can perform their professional duties without being intimidated or threatened. Threats against media professionals represent an attack on human rights.

Media freedom and freedom of expression are fundamental values and essential pillars of democracy. Unfortunately, such attacks are on the rise in BiH,” High Representative Valentin Inzko stated today, commenting on the recent attack against Face TV journalist, Senad Hadžifejzović.

He added that attacks against media cannot be tolerated and each and every case must be properly addressed. “Journalists play a vital role in every democratic society and law enforcement authorities must ensure their safety, and demonstrate that there can be no impunity for attacks against them,” the High Representative stated.
