race6The 3rd race “Girls on the Run”, organized by the NGO “Marathon” Sarajevo, took place today on Wilson’s promenade in Sarajevo.

Hundreds of women participated in this race whether running or walking, depending on their physical shape. Katarina Lemez was the 1st on the finish line.

Sports project “Girls on the Run” was organized as the promotion of healthy and active lifestyle as well as the tool for fight against discrimination and prejudices in B&H society.

Erol Mujanović, the CEO of the NGO Marathon Sarajevo said that the number of participants today was a record when compared to the last year.

“We had a total of 480 participants today, which is bigger number than in the previous 2 years together. We were surprised by the interest in the competition. We really have not expected such a huge number of enthusiasts. The increase of interest of girls in running is amazing, as well as they being so dedicated to have a healthy life, “said Mujanović.

He emphasized that Sunday morning went great at Wilson’s Promenade and that the weather served participants very well.

“We had very nice entertaining program and a lot of positive events took place today. I want to thank to all the participants. I have to say that we are considering this as a very good overture to Sarajevo’s Half Marathon race, which will take place in seven days,” added Mujanović.

Participants were awarded with valuable gifts from the sponsors of the competition.
