Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Wales in Cardiff last night and qualified for the World Cup play-off final, and the nation was thrilled by a detail during the broadcast and the prayer of an elderly Bosnian fan whose identity has been revealed.
The Dragons managed to defeat the Welsh at Cardiff City Stadium last night in a real drama, and we reached the play-off final after penalties.
After 120 minutes of play, the scoreboard read 1:1 with goals from James and Džeko, and then the penalty shootout began.
Although Demirović missed the first penalty, our team managed to turn it around and win in the end. The hero was Vasilj, who managed to stop the home team’s penalty in the fourth series, which sent us through.
However, what most thrilled the BiH nation was a detail during the live broadcast of last night’s match that was seen before the start of extra time.
Then the camera recorded an elderly BiH fan praying to God, and after the match ended, he became a hit on social networks.
Many thanked him and said that the prayer had obviously been answered, and soon after that they found out who that fan was.
It is Elvedin Šečić, who is from Bugojno, but lives in Norway.
“Congregant from Norway, Elvedin Šečić from Bugojno, recites a prayer for victory,” Norwegian chief imam Edin Mezit revealed after the match.
It is interesting that it was the man from Bugojno who took our team further with his goal, and it was Kerim Alajbegović who managed to score the last penalty for the victory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Our team returns to Sarajevo today where they will prepare until Tuesday when we will play the play-off final against Italy at Bilino Polje.
The match in Zenica will be played at 8:45 PM.
