John Kirby, the White House national security adviser, said that Vladimir Putin should end the war against Ukraine if he is so concerned about the situation in the Kursk region.
Kirby said the latest claims by Russian officials that the offensive in the Kursk region is being coordinated by the West is “all Putin’s propaganda,” which the Kremlin chief has been holding on to since the start of the invasion of Ukraine.
The spokesman of the White House emphasized that the only people waging war in Ukraine are the Russians themselves, because they are the ones attacking Ukraine, which is defending itself against aggression. Kirby pointed out that this is exclusively Russia’s war against Ukraine and has been so since the beginning.
He suggested that if Putin is unhappy with something, there is a simple solution: “We need to withdraw our troops from Ukraine and end the war.”
Since the beginning of last week, Ukrainian troops have been conducting an operation in Russia’s Kursk region. Oleksandr Syrskyi, commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s armed forces, reported that Ukrainian forces control up to 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory.
The Pentagon said that Ukraine’s advance in the Kursk region is in line with US policy and that it is not concerned about a possible increase in tensions with Russia.
