March 15th is World Speech Day. This year’s location is the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, which will on Friday, 15th March, at 11h open its doors to all enthusiasts for the topic of public speaking. Thanks to the cooperation with Toastmasters Sarajevo, this WSD will be a combination of workshops for public speaking and two blocks of public speeches

World Speech Day is not just an important date. The WSD is a 24-hour event that is held simultaneously all over the globe. The event gathers enthusiasts of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest, and gives them the opportunity to send their message out to the world in a time span of 5 to 10 minutes. This year’s WSD topic is ‘World Citizen’.

Inspired by this idea, the rhetoric club Toastmasters Sarajevo has decided to gather professionals from the field of public speaking and organize free workshops for all WSD participants. The workshops will be held exclusively in English and the precondition for participation is good will and a filled out submission form from the link.

Although Toastmasters Sarajevo is, as a social rhetoric club, meant for the practicing public speaking of already fully developed professionals who are far above 18 years old, the WSD workshops, on 15-03-19 do not have an age or background limit. “We want to hear and encourage all voices, no matter if big or small. Bright minds and good ideas are all around us, they just need an opportunity,” said Selma Fetic, VPPR Toastmasters Sarajevo.

This year’s WSD schedule is:

11: 00-12: 00 – Public speaking workshop (with Nedim Tarakcija, the motivational speaker)

12: 00-12: 30 – What makes a good talk

12: 30-13: 30 – Break

13: 00-14: 30 – Your time to shine (first block of speeches)

14: 30-16: 00 – The untold stories of journalists (second block of speeches)

All interested in participating in the workshops and giving speeches under the topic “World Citizen” or just interested in attending the event, should feel free to fill in the application form in the link and visit the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, March 15, 2019, at 11:00. The official language of the event is English. The applications are open only until 12-03-19. The number of chairs and microphones is limited so be quick!
