Increasing Cases of Child Malnutrition in Gaza due to Israeli Blockade

The number of cases of child malnutrition is rising in Gaza as a result of the ongoing Israeli blockade and attacks.

For the past 11 months, Israeli attacks and the blockade of the Gaza Strip have continued. The worsening humanitarian crisis has led to a surge in cases of child malnutrition and outbreaks of diseases.

A seven-year-old Palestinian girl, Sham al-Masri, is fighting for her life at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah due to malnutrition and a lack of medicine.

A recent tragic case was the death of four-year-old Lina Sheikh Khalil, also from Deir al-Balah, who passed away due to malnutrition and a shortage of medical supplies.

Israel’s actions, violating a United Nations (UN) Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, have faced widespread international condemnation amid the ongoing offensive on Gaza, which escalated after Hamas attacked on October 7th, 2023.

Large parts of Gaza are in ruins, and the delivery of food, clean water, and medicine has been blocked.

Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which recently ordered Tel Aviv to halt its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians sought refuge before being attacked on May 6th, N1 writes.
