Invest in BiH: A Call to BH Diaspora and Swiss Companies

There are about 60,000 people with Bosnian origin who are living in Switzerland, and many of them send money to their relatives in BiH.

According to data of the World Bank from 2012, a total of 73 million USD went to Switzerland from BiH, as reported by their highest selling newspaper Blick and it was added that it is 3.5 times more than the annual budget of all Swiss companies that are operating on the territory of BiH.

“I do not know any Bosnian who does not send money to BiH,” said Edin Dacic (49), who came to Switzerland as a 5-year-old boy.

He is a member of the steering board of the platform “i-diaspora”. Two years ago, they got the support from the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC).

The platform should give the incentive to BH Diaspora in Switzerland not only to send the money to their relatives but also to invest in the BH economy.

Last Friday, the platform i-diaspora hosted a business forum, together with other organizations. A total of 16 Bosnian and 10 Swiss companies that are engaged in the construction and furniture industry met in Zurich.

“Pfister has been buying in BiH for years. We are always interested in cooperation with regions that possess certain skills and competencies,” said the representative of this company.

Sabina Mujanovic-Heljic (38) is pleased with the opportunity to present their skills in Zurich. She is the director of the company Krivaja Homes, which is manufacturing prefabricated houses and it is active in Switzerland for three years.
