IOM and Red Cross signed an Agreement on securing Meals for Migrants

Coordinator for the Western Balkans of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Peter Van der Auweraert and Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Federation of BiH Namik Hodžić signed today an Agreement for support in securing meals for migrants-asylum seekers by the end of March 2019 in Una-Sana Canton.

Agreement was signed within a project funded by the EU, and 315.567,50 KM will be used for preparation and delivery of three meals per day for total of 2.520 migrants – asylum seekers who are staying at a temporary shelters and informal camps in Una-Sana Canton.

All meals will be prepared and delivered in accordance with international standards which guarantee sufficient nutritional value and diversity.

“Red Cross was the key actor in providing assistance to migrants and refugees in Una-Sana Canton. IOM is happy to continue this partnership and secure ongoing access to food to migrants,” stated Van der Auweraert.

Project “EU support to Migration and Border Management in BiH”, for which the European Union allocated more than 7.2. million euros, is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with UNHCR and UNICEF, Service for Public Informing of IOM stated
