The incredible Tomisla Cvitanušić, Dario Ružić, Emir Baralić, Erol Mujanović and Nermin Palić successfully ended the competition Ironman Triathlon that was held on Sunday in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt. All five of them managed to reach the end line of this extremely demanding competition and raise the flag of their country at the goal.
The most difficult competitions consisted of swimming, running and cycling and all of them had to cross 226 kilometers in less than 17 hours. Tomo, Dario, Emir, Erol and Nermin succeeded.
After strenuous preparations that lasted for several months, they have demonstrated physical readiness and mental endurance. Nermin Palić had the best result of the BiH representatives, finishing the triathlon in 10 hours, 24 minutes and 17 seconds. Following are Emir Baralić with 10:43:30, Dario Ružić with 13:33:26, Tomislav Cvitanušić with 13:36:07 and Erol Mujanović who completed the triathlon in 14 hours, 18 minutes and 26 seconds.
Winner of the Ironman Triathlon in Klagenfurt was the Belgian Marino Vanhoenacker with the result of 08:04:18.
Ironman is a series of races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation in which the contestants need to swim 3.8 kilometers, cycle for 180 kilometers and in the end run a marathon in the length of 42.2 kilometers, all without a break.
The competition attracts nearly 3.000 athletes from 60 countries every year and they compete at the Wörthersee Lake with the average temperature of 22 degrees. After swimming, they ride a bike through picturesque areas in the atmosphere resembling the one in Tour de France. The race goes along the lake and through the city.
