Blueberries and raspberries are more expensive than meat. The prices of fruits and vegetables have increased significantly compared to previous years. Although it is unnecessary to talk about the positive effects on health, with a few hundred marks to cover all the bills and monthly obligations, a significant part of Bosnia and Herzegovina is healthy on a plate. of citizens is becoming more and more unattainable.

The prices of a kilogram of fruit – blueberries, raspberries and cherries – reached the price of a kilogram of meat in butchers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Extremely high prices compared to the standard of citizens, almost twice as expensive as last year.

Was the rise in fruit and vegetable prices inevitable? We sought the answer of the Association of Farmers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We have come to a situation that we have been warning about for years, there is no protection of domestic production, there is nothing, and the prices are now dictated by the import lobby. If the state continues to act like a stepmother, it will be even worse,” said Nedžad Bićo, president of the FBiH Farmers’ Association.

Prices are not the same at all stands, and some even say that sales go better when the goods are more expensive. They agree that prices are dictated by suppliers, as well as weather conditions.

A kilogram of raspberries and blueberries now reaches as much as 24 BAM, while the prices of strawberries and cherries in some places reach prices of 9 and 10 BAM per kilogram. This is a challenge for many household budgets, with all the living expenses and insufficient income.
