Bosnian-Herzegovinian paraswimmers Ismail Barlov and Ismail Zulfić won seven medals at the Croatian Open Paraswimming Championship in Zagreb.

The Open Sixth Championship competition, which was organized by the Croatian Paralympic Committee and the Natator Swimming Club, was attended by 19 clubs and national teams from eight countries with a total of 100 competitors.

In addition to the host Croatia, representatives from Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Turkey, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose colors were successfully defended by Ismail Barlov and Ismail Zulfić, participated.

The competition was evaluated in the absolute category with the sum of points from a maximum of four disciplines for the team competition.

The two best Bosnian national team members won three gold medals, the same number of silver medals, and one bronze medal in the absolute category. With a total of 5,199 points in the absolute category of 16 men’s teams, they won the third place trophy.

Paralympic vice-champion Ismail Barlov swam to two gold and one silver, while Ismail Zulfić won one gold and one bronze, and two silver medals.

The head coach of the BiH paraswimming team, Amel Kapo, said that after completing the first part of the preparations that were carried out in Zaostrog, they used the competition in Zagreb as a control and to check the swimmers’ form for their appearance at the European Summer Olympic Festival to be held in Istanbul.

“The two Ismails showed that they are in good shape and that they are on the right track to once again present our country in the best light,”  said Kapo and thanked the organizer for the good organization of the competition, the Spid Swimming Club announced.
