ismeta_dervozDeputy Chair of the Commission for Gender Equality of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ismeta Dervoz will participate in the Conference on the Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 of the United Nations (UN), which is organized by the Centre for Security Cooperation of Southeastern Europe (RACVIAC) and the Agency for Gender equality on October 22 and 23 in Zagreb.

As the organizers announced, the aim of this conference is to develop a framework for monitoring progress on the implementation of Resolution 1325 and other documents of the UN Security Council pertaining to women’s rights in countries of RACVIAC.

At the same time, the conference participants will discuss the establishment of a functioning regional coordination mechanism in relation to the implementation of Resolution 1325. The Security Council adopted the Resolution 1325, also known as the “Women, peace and security” in October 2000.

It is a document by which participants in wars around the world must respect women’s rights and support their participation in peace missions and post-conflict reconstruction.

In 2010, the BiH Council of Ministers adopted an Action Plan for the implementation of the resolution, which was aimed primarily to increase participation of women in decision-making in military and police forces and peacekeeping missions, and the improvement of the status of women who are civilian victims of war.

Invited by Ana Blatnik President of the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria, delegate Ismeta Dervoz Klagernfurtu participates today in the conference named “Remembrance, Reconciliation, shaping the future – Southeast Europe in the new Europe.”

Keynote speaker and moderator of the panel which attended by one representative from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia each, is former High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, BiH Parliamentary Assembly said in a statement.
