Israel and Hamas have agreed on a framework for a Ceasefire, Biden says

Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas have agreed on a framework for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, US President Joseph Biden announced.

“Six weeks ago, I presented a comprehensive framework for achieving a ceasefire and returning the hostages to their homes. There is still work to be done, and these are complex issues, but this framework is now agreed to by both Israel and Hamas. My team is moving forward, and I’m determined to do so,” Biden wrote on the X social network.

A new round of indirect negotiations between the parties to the conflict in Gaza became possible after Hamas’s latest response to the proposals presented by US President Joseph Biden at the end of May. On July 3, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office and Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency said they had received a response from Hamas regarding the hostage deal, and an Israeli response to it was being prepared.

The following day, Hamas announced that the head of its political office, Ismail Haniyeh, was holding consultations with Egypt, Qatar and Turkey on ways to resolve the situation in Gaza, reports TASS.
