Israel reported 2.5 Billion Dollars in Damages from War with Hezbollah

Israel reported damage amounting to nine billion shekels (2.5 billion dollars) caused by the war with the Lebanese Hezbollah.

A report submitted to the government by the Ministry of Finance showed that 2.900 buildings were damaged in northern Israel during the conflict since October 2023, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

The report established that 19 percent of the damaged buildings were caused by Israeli military activities in the region.

According to the report, 67.500 Israelis have been evacuated from northern Israel since the outbreak of the conflict, and only 19.000 have so far returned to their homes.

A fragile ceasefire has been in effect since November 27th, ending the months-long cross-border war between Israel and Hezbollah, which escalated into a full-scale conflict last September.

Lebanese authorities reported more than 1.000 Israeli violations of the ceasefire, including the death of at least 83 and the wounding of 280 people.

According to the ceasefire agreement, Israel was supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26th, but the deadline was extended to February 18th after Israel refused to implement the agreement, as it still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
