The President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov and Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic after their meeting in Skopje evaluated that relations between the two countries are the best in the region.
Ivanov expressed his satisfaction with the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries and stated that it is characterized by traditionally strong friendship, identical views when it comes to international and regional cooperation and common strategic objectives: peace and stability in the region and integration into Euro-Atlantic security structures.
“The Republic of Macedonia openly and clearly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH in every possible way. We welcome the progress in the process of EU integrations and we expect from BiH to respond to the questionnaire of the European Commission soon in order to obtain a positive opinion on membership in the European Union,” stated Ivanov.
He added that he talked with Ivanic about the situation in the region and that they agreed that the European integrations are essential for the stability, development, and prosperity of the entire region.
Ivanov also commented the economic cooperation between the two countries, noting that BiH is among the 20 largest economic partners of Macedonia.
Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic agreed that relations between BiH and Macedonia are maybe even the best in the region and noted that there is no question about which BiH and Macedonia have different views neither in the past nor at this time.
“I really think that this is an example of very good political cooperation and mutual understanding. BiH will be strongly present in Macedonia this year in many cultural events that we will be able to see. We will work together at the opening of a direct flight between Sarajevo and Skopje. I hope that the Agreement on travel with identity cards will take effect as well. All of this should further increase our good cooperation,” said Ivanic.
Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic yesterday started a two-day official visit to Macedonia, where he was received by Macedonian counterpart Gjorge Ivanov with the highest state honors. For today is planned an economic forum in which will participate the economic delegation from BiH.
