mladen ivanicChairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic, who is paying an official visit to Israel, talked with the President of the Parliament of Israel Knesset Yulij Edelstein regarding the current political situation in the two countries, as well as the Balkans and the Middle East.

They stated that relations between BiH and Israel are very good and that there is a good cooperation at the parliamentary level, as well as a great opportunity for the promotion of bilateral relations and exchange of experience. They also concluded that there is a mutual interest in improving cooperation in the field of agriculture, tourism and information technology.

Ivanic informed Edelstein on the numerous challenges that BiH is facing with ever since the war, as well as the steps that our country is making on the path towards the European Union.

Chairman of the Presidency of BiH visited the Memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust during World War II Yad Vashem in Jerusalem and laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance, as well as the Jasenovac camp. He said that this museum, which is a witness to the extermination of six million Jews, is a warning that evil cannot be ignored or forgotten because it can always repeat.

“It is very important to return to the respect of others and elementary human values, as well as a compromise. We in BiH can learn here where exclusivity and hatred can lead,” stated Ivanic.

Ivanic also addressed representatives of the World Jewish Congress among which are many university professors, representatives of the diplomatic corps and representatives of public life in Israel, who were interested in the current political situation and relations in the post-Dayton BiH and the region, as well as the relations between BiH and the European Union.

During the official visit to Israel, Ivanic also met with the President of Israel Reuven Rivlin, and with Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and all Palestine Theophilos III.

During their visit to Israel, the delegation of BiH will also meet with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and the Minister of Defence Avigdor Lieberman, and they will meet with President Mahmoud Abbas and the Committee for the Negotiations in Palestine. They should also meet with religious officials of Palestine and lay a wreath at the Mausoleum of Yasser Arafat.

Besides Ivanic, in the delegation of BiH are also Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak and representative of the Bosniak member of the Presidency of BiH, Elvir Camdzic.
