The Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Toshihiro Aiki, visited the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) today, where he met with ITA Director Zoran Tegeltija to discuss the Authority’s activities and results, with a special focus on achievements in 2025.

During the meeting, Director Tegeltija informed Ambassador Aiki that a record amount of indirect tax revenues was collected in 2025, totaling 12.2 billion BAM. He emphasized that this represents a significant contribution to the stability of public finances in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was noted that these results are the outcome of continuous improvements in the ITA’s work, stronger tax discipline, more efficient supervision, modernization of information systems, and the dedication of employees in carrying out their legally prescribed duties. Tegeltija also presented other key activities of the ITA, including efforts to combat the gray economy, improve tax and customs procedures, facilitate trade, and strengthen cooperation with domestic and international institutions.

Ambassador Aiki expressed strong interest in the work and organization of the Indirect Taxation Authority, praising the achieved results and ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacities and transparency.

Both sides underlined the importance of international cooperation and the exchange of experiences, particularly in the field of modernizing tax and customs systems.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed their readiness to continue constructive cooperation and dialogue, jointly assessing that a stable and efficient system of indirect taxation plays a crucial role in the economic development and financial stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the ITA of BiH announced.
