demofestThe music festival ‘Jelen Demofest’ will be held from 18-20 July in the fortress Kastel in Banja Luka, and the honorary sponsor will be the Office of the Special Representative of the EU to BiH.

At this year’s music festival ‘Jelen Demofest’, which offers free admission, there will be representatives of 34 bands of the total 428 applicants.

The Special Representative of the EU to BIH Peter Sorensen said that the EU is always ready to be a partner to people who are drivers in their community, so this is an excellent opportunity for cooperation, said the organizers of the festival.

“I hope that the growing influence of Demofest will encourage bands to participate in it and to attract a large number of visitors who will enjoy their performances’’, said Sorensen.

The Director of the festival Brankica Janković said that they are very honored with the decision of the Special Representative that ‘Jelen Demofest’ will be the only music festival in BiH with the support of the EU.

“Maybe this is a sign that we are on the right path to create a brand that will one day go beyond the borders of the former Yugoslavia’’, said Janković.

The first ‘Demofest’ was held in 2008, and after having received 192 applicants, the festival hosted a selection of 36 bands from five countries, 39 accredited media from the region and more than 20.000 visitors during the seven days of the festival.

That year, the festival laid the foundations and achieved great publicity in the region, primarily due to the extraordinary circumstances in which the bands performed, excellent organization and free entrance for concerts such as Darko Rundek, Damir Urban, Marčel and Kud Idijot, said the organizers.
