Jurisdiction over Tito’s Blindage given to the Government of FBiH

tito3The Ministry of Defense of BiH surrendered the military object in Konjic known as Tito’s blindage to the Common Affairs service of the Government of FBiH.

From the Ministry of Defense BiH is announced that object “D-0“ or “ARK“ is given to the jurisdiction of the Federal Government on 10th February, according to the Agreement on the basic principles for resolving issues of immovable and movable property that will continue to serve the defense purposes, and which was concluded between the Ministry of Defense BiH and entity governments in 2007.

titoBy the decision of the Presidency of BiH on amendments to the Decisions on the size, structure and locations of the Armed Forces of BiH from 18th April of 2012, the object “D-0“ in Konjic was defined as not perspective for the Armed Forces of BiH.

The statement notes that all jurisdictions of the Ministry of Defense BiH cease to be valid, and therefore the issuing approvals for visit to the facility “D-0“ in Konjic.

The military object “Tito’s blindage“ is located on the site of the former military industry “Igman“ Konjic, on the right bank of the Neretva river, extends in three camouflage buildings, the entrance to the object was made in the interior of a mountain, above which is mountain Zlatar.

The object is called “ARK“ or “Army reserve command“, and is consisted of three parts- outdoor above the ground, which is consisted of three buildings, that look like cottages and primarily serve as camouflage for the three entrances to the building, tunnels that connect outdoor and protected part of the object and have the function to amortize the nuclear attack, and a protected part where the total of 21 systems was installed, and all  together make a regime of work and the technical maintenance of the object and are still in the function.

The main purpose of the object “D-0“ was to accept, accommodate and protect the Supreme Command Staff, small part of the Presidency and the Government of Yugoslavia, to provide them with optimal work conditions, command and control of the ground for an indefinite period in crisis situations and in the case of danger of a nuclear attack on Yugoslavia.

The construction of the object had started in March 1953, by the decision of the military leadership of Yugoslavian National Army, and for the construction, $ 4.6 billions was spent.
