Kabiri: The Rhetoric of Hatred against the Jewish People in BiH must stop

After a swastika was drawn over the poster of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of Israel in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the center of Sarajevo, the president of that chamber, Amir Gross Kabiri, sent a press release on Thursday in which he called on the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, to publicly condemn this violent act of anti-Semitism and send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.

”The recent hate crime that took place on the streets of Sarajevo and the scenes of Nazi symbols sprayed over the flag of the Jewish state is deeply disturbing and should serve as a warning sign. I call on Mayor Karic to publicly condemn this violent act of anti-Semitism and to send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated,” said Kabiri, reminding that in a few weeks, the whole world will mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

He also called on leaders in Sarajevo to ensure that law enforcement agencies bring criminals to justice, in the faith that the judicial system will judge them appropriately.

”We will not allow any Jew, citizen of BiH, to face fear and terror. This is my personal moral duty and I will make sure that they are safe and protected even if I have to protect each one of them with my own body,” he emphasized.

Kabiri believes that the rhetoric of hatred against the Jewish people must stop.

”Silence in the face of this crime represents its support, and that’s why I again invite you to speak out. We will not allow anyone to prevent us from achieving our goals, creating a unique, tolerant, and successful BiH,” concluded the president of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of Israel in BiH.
