In a meeting today with the leadership of the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, Ambassador Johann Sattler, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in BiH, and Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec, Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, underlined their full support for the HJPC as a single self-governance body guaranteeing judicial independence across Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on the Agreement on the Transfer of Competences and the Law on HJPC.

During the meeting, the Ambassadors noted that only the BiH Parliamentary Assembly has the authority to modify the legislative framework regulating the establishment and competences of the HJPC. They moreover underlined that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs the HJPC in order to guarantee judicial independence, the efficiency and effectiveness of court procedures and steer judicial reform to further strengthen these. Ambassador Sattler also made clear that a comprehensive new Law on HJPC is paramount to move forward on the European path.
