Komsic: We must preserve the Legality of our Actions

“First of all, the release of Edin Vranj from custody and his arrival in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was expected. It was seen just before the weekend. To be honest, I don’t think they had any reason to arrest him,” said BiH Presidency Chairman, Zeljko Komsic.

Asked how serious the political and constitutional crisis BiH is he stated: “It is very serious. Especially if Dodik really starts to realize everything he announced, it can lead the country into a crisis whose end can be, objectively speaking, of all kinds. So the overthrow of the Constitution and the laws adopted by the same Dodik and his party in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly(PA), in the way that the body does it, in this case, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NARS) without the PABiH are a direct blow to both the constitutional system and law enforcement. That requires a reaction from the institutions that are authorized to react under the mentioned Constitution and law, and I am thinking primarily of the Prosecutor’s Office and the police agencies. “

“What we have now and what follows, especially if everything that Dodik said actually happens, will be a real test for the Prosecution. The Prosecution has elements to react, especially when it comes to denying genocide, but also incitement. No one has immunity to such crimes. Immunity does not mean that you are irresponsible for anything you do while performing the function. “

He noted that if the NARS adopts conclusions that are unconstitutional and illegal, then the institutions that are competent to preserve the laws and enable their implementation will enter the scene.

“The most important thing in this situation for us is to preserve the legality of our actions because if we give up legality, we will again be reduced to two conflicting sides in everyone’s eyes. In this case, institutions, whatever they are, must react. If they do not react, then we have a serious problem.”

The RS Army would be a terrorist paramilitary group

Also, he stated that in this situation, it is important to keep the legality of our actions, the legality of the institutions, not to fall for his provocations, and to make it clear to him that there is no playing with BiH.

“I don’t think the police will accept the call if he decides to put them on the border between Federation of BiH (FBiH) and RS. The eventual formation of an RS army would be a terrorist paramilitary group.”

He pointed out that Milorad Dodik’s political path proves that he is an infinitely, in the worst possible way, pragmatic man who has no ideas, ideals, or beliefs.

When it comes to amendments to the Election Law, Komsic told: “We will see who has a plan. Everyone has their positions and if it comes to discussing it, I still stand on the position that in such circumstances it will be a great miracle if we reach an agreement, at least in the part that we don’t have electoral fraud.”
