BiH FM from Budapest: At this Moment, we have the Support of every EU Member State

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Elmedin Konakovic, met on Wednesday in Budapest with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto. Reporting from Budapest, he stated that it is very important to have the support of every European Union (EU) member state at this moment, especially those leading the processes.

He emphasized that one of the important facts is that Hungary holds the presidency and that quality relations have been established at the ministerial level. They signed an Action Plan on the Transfer of Knowledge about the Accession Process to the EU between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

“Today marks my fifth official meeting with Szijjarto. Hungary’s experiences can be very valuable for BiH. One part of the action plan involves educating 50 diplomats from BiH from all levels of government, and we will organize that,” said Konakovic yesterday, adding that this is another successful cooperation and visit.

They offered assistance to BiH

The official opening of negotiations, he notes, is the first very important step for BiH, but then the real work begins.

“The real work means conducting screenings of all processes, mapping them out. This is a comprehensive task. Hungary, Croatia, Romania, and these seven friends from the Western Balkans have offered us assistance,” emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH.

The conflict of interest prevention law is nearing the end of harmonization, Konakovic said, adding that he expects some final details to be aligned.

“I spoke with Dodik this morning, and it is very important for us that this law is adopted within this deadline so that it can be part of the report prepared by Varhelyi. A little more patience, I think we are nearing the end,” Konakovic added yesterday.

In the end, he expressed his optimism that it would be adopted within the deadline, N1 writes.
