CoM and ITA Board of Directors did not support the Temporary Opening of the new Gradiska Border Crossing

At an emergency telephone session of the Council of Ministers of BiH held today, Bosniak ministers did not give the “green light” for a conclusion regarding the opening of the new border crossing Gradiška – Novi Most – Gornji Varoš.

The emergency session was convened after the collapse of part of the bridge over the Sava River at the Gradiška border crossing, which completely suspended traffic for passenger and freight vehicles and pedestrians.

As previously announced, the Council of Ministers scheduled the session to adopt a conclusion that would ensure the unhindered movement of people and goods as soon as possible and prevent large crowds on alternative routes, which would entail the temporary opening of the Gradiška – Novi Most – Gornja Varoš border crossing.

If the Council of Ministers had responded positively, the Indirect Taxation Administration of BiH and the Border Police of BiH would have been tasked with taking action to open this border crossing.

The Board of Directors of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH did not adopt amendments to the ITA Internal Organization Rulebook at today’s electronic session because Zijad Krnjić, a member of the Board of Directors from among experts appointed by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, voted against it.

The electronic session of the ITA Board of Directors was scheduled this morning at the order of Chairman Srđan Amidžić due to the emergency situation due to the collapse of part of the bridge at the Gradiška border crossing and the threat to citizens and property.
