Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Stasa Kosarac, stated that Croatia conducts activities on the construction of radioactive and nuclear waste landfill at Trgovska gora in a non-transparent manner and that it is important to prevent this with arguments, because otherwise, as he said, it can have inconceivable consequences on the living world.

“The primary goal is for our experts to enter the territory of Croatia and work with Croatian experts on the necessary analysis and collection of arguments and facts,” Kosarac said after a meeting of members of the Coordination Body for Disposal of Radioactive Waste and Spent Nuclear Fuel at Trgovska gora with the chairman of Expert Team, Emir Dizdarevic, and Zeljko Bogut from Legal Team.

Kosarac stressed that they do not have any official information from Croatia about a possible radioactive and nuclear waste disposal site at Trgovska gora.

“The information we got so far shows that Croatia is working on that and we do not want to have an inferior relationship. We want to be mobilized, ” Kosarac said.

He emphasized that the obligation is to perform this job with the same intensity as the Croatian side, which, as he stated, does not conduct this process transparently.

“BiH does not have any official information and that indicates the fact that our experts, competent bodies, and teams are not provided with adequate documentation. Based on that documentation, both the Croatian and the BiH side should implement certain activities,” Kosarac emphasized.

He added that they detected this as the main issue at this meeting, and in addition to the information he will provide to the Council of Ministers, he will also inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the Croatian side is not submitting the requested documentation or needed information.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should, in accordance with the decision of the Presidency of BiH, perform activities and thus provide our side with information and necessary documentation,” says Kosarac.

He added that during the week he would inform the head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to BiH, Johann Sattler, about mentioned problems, considering the fact that Croatia is a member of the EU.

“We still do not have official information about when the meeting at the ministerial level will occur. I think that this is also important for maintaining good bilateral relations. This issue can be open from that aspect as well and I want to say that it is the complete political mobility of all institutions in BiH to treat this issue in a adequately, ” said Kosarac.

He mentioned that their obligation is based on the proposal of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Milorad Dodik, as well as the decision of the Presidency which obliged all institutions to do that work to protect human health and the environment in BiH, so everyone was mobilized in that context.

So far, the expert team has had nine working meetings, as Kosarac said, and added that there are very clear procedures and competencies of experts for certain areas, BHRT writes.
