Kurti claims that Serbian Armed Forces use regular exercises for provocations near the border with Kosovo

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia on Friday of conducting regular exercises of the armed forces as an excuse for deliberate provocations near the border with Kosovo.

“Today, just a few meters from the border with Kosovo, near the village of Banje in Zubin Potok, specialized units of the Serbian Army were spotted, and similar movements were also recorded in the Bujanovac village of Oslare, near the border with Kosovo,” Kurti wrote on Facebook.

Kurti recalled that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić publicly threatened Kosovo that “Serbia will wait for the best possible moment, and that he will use the opportunity to act”.

“We are carefully monitoring whether they will try to cross the border, because even this approach of their military vehicles is not normal,” wrote Kurti, who also published a video showing, as he claims, members of the Special Forces of the Serbian Army near the village of Banja.

The head of the Serbian Commission for the Implementation of the Military-Technical Agreement, Zoran Jovanović, denied the Kosovo Prime Minister’s claims that the Serbian Army uses regular exercises for provocations and added that this is part of Pristina’s campaign aimed at raising tensions and avoiding internationally accepted obligations.

The Serbian Army cooperates with the international forces in Kosovo (KFOR), and the commission for its implementation is in charge of controlling the implementation of the military-technical agreement, announced Jovanović, Fena news agency writes.
