Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton (TC) Bego Gutic and Minister of Interior Husein Topcagic visited the campus of the University Campus in Tuzla where will be located the base operations for this exercise together with the executive director of the NATO exercises to manage the consequences of the crisis situation called ‘Bosnia and Herzegovina 2017’ Samir Huseinbasic, his deputy Zdenko Tadic and the Mayor of Tuzla Jasmin Imamovic.
“Final preparations for the Exercise are going as planned and I am sure that we will have the best exercise so far. As we already know, around 1,400 participants from 34 NATO and allied partner countries will participate in the exercise and this is the largest exercise held by NATO so far. The fact that we will be hosts of an exercise like this is priceless. This is a state project and TC will do everything necessary for everything to take place in the best way possible since this is a great opportunity for promotion of the city of Tuzla, TC and entire BiH, said Prime Minister Gutic.
NATO and partner countries with such activities are practicing disaster response mechanisms that are aimed at improving their ability for effective co-operation in emergency situations.
Exercise will also contribute to strengthening the ability of the host to effectively coordinate international operations of disaster response.
“Maintenance of this exercise is one of our last checks before joining NATO. On the other side, this exercise will help institutions of BiH to additionally train our forces and to prepare better for possible catastrophes, as well as to connect and be able to better coordinate with international forces,” said Minister of Interior Husein Topcagic.
Mayor Imamovic stated that the only path for BiH are the Euro-Atlantic integrations.
This is the seventieth field exercise that was conducted by the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) since 2000 and it is hosted for the first time by BiH.
Exercise “Bosnia and Herzegovina 2017” will be held from September 25th to 29th, in and around the city of Tuzla.
